Mere Benefits Earns Two Statewide 2026 Best of Florida Awards

Jacksonville-Based Insurance Agency Recognized by Guide to Florida in Three Categories

Mere Benefits, a Jacksonville-based independent insurance agency focused on simplifying health insurance and benefits for individuals, families and businesses, has been named a 2026 Best of Florida Winner in two statewide categories and a Regional Winner in a third category by Guide to Florida.

  • Best of Florida Winner · Agencies for Health Insurance
  • Best of Florida Winner · Insurance Agencies
  • Best of Florida Regional Winner · Financial Advisors

The two Best of Florida honors represent Guide to Florida’s highest level of recognition. According to Guide to Florida, winners are selected primarily based on voting results, with votes reviewed by its editorial and compliance team. The organization recognizes no more than 30% of nominated businesses within a specific industry across all of its award tiers.

For Mere Benefits founder Kate Spilsbury, RSSA®, CMIP®, the recognition is particularly meaningful because it reflects support from the people and businesses the agency serves.

“There are a lot of industry awards out there, but knowing that these recognitions were driven primarily by votes from clients and people in our community makes this incredibly meaningful to me. It tells me that the work we are doing is actually making a difference in people’s lives. When someone trusts you to help them make decisions about their health insurance, Medicare or financial future, that is something I never take lightly.”

As a fourth-generation Floridian, Spilsbury said earning two statewide Best of Florida titles carries special significance. Spilsbury has been licensed in the insurance industry since 2007 and has helped thousands of individuals, families and businesses navigate their coverage options. Today, Mere Benefits assists Floridians with Medicare, Marketplace health insurance, group benefits, coverage for the self-employed, supplemental insurance, Social Security planning and other insurance and benefits needs.

“I actually didn’t even know about the Best of Florida Awards until this year. To go from learning that this recognition existed to finding out that Mere Benefits won not just one, but two statewide Best of Florida categories is something I am incredibly proud of. Florida is my home. My family has been here for four generations, and being recognized by the people we serve throughout this state means more to me than I can put into words.”

Guide to Florida describes Best of Florida as an annual statewide program highlighting outstanding products, services, businesses and organizations across more than 20 industry and community sections. Anyone may nominate an eligible business, and there is no fee to be nominated, placed on the ballot or named a winner. Winners are selected primarily through public voting, followed by review and verification by Guide to Florida.

Mere Benefits will also be featured among recognized businesses in the 2026 Best of Florida Print Annual, scheduled for release this fall.

For Spilsbury, the awards reinforce the mission that has guided Mere Benefits from the beginning: making an industry that is often overwhelming easier for everyday people to understand.

“Insurance can be confusing, and people are often making these decisions during major transitions in their lives. Our job is to take something complicated and make it understandable. We are going to keep doing exactly that—providing clear guidance, helping people find the right coverage and removing as much confusion from the process as possible.”
